Junior minister Titu unaware of edible oil price hike!

The Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Bonaspati Manufacturers Association announced a hike of Tk 10 per litre for bottled soybean oil, setting the new price at Tk 173 per litre. The price of open palm oil has also been hiked. Addressing concerns over a potential reversal in prices, Titu said that the price of soybean oil would not decrease, indicating an irreversible shift from previous rates. Read more: Govt to procure oil, pulse worth Tk 347cr for TCB In a press release issued by the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Bonaspati Manufacturers Association, it was confirmed that every litre of bottled soybean oil would be retailed at Tk 173, with a 5-liter package priced at Tk 845 with effect from Tuesday. The price of open palm oil per liter has been set at Tk 132. The press release also highlighted the expiration of a notification issued on February 7 regarding the import and production of raw materials for edible oil. Consequently, the market is expected to witness the supply of refined palm oil and refined soybean oil from April 16 at pre-VAT prices.
